15.5 M Butuan City Library
This is the 15.5 M Butuan City Library with funding support from Congressman Hon. Leovigildo Banaag. The construction was implemented by the DPWH in four phases starting July 6, 2000 and completed on November 2, 2004.
The City Government acquired the lot and allocated funds for the library facilities such as computers. Today, the Butuan City Library located along J. Rosales Street is considered as the most modern in Mindanao.
The two-storey building has a floor area of 1,020 square meters with the site having a total area of 3,756 square meters. A monument and a Wall of Heroes engraved the names of World war II Veterans can be seen on its facade, designed by Artist Jess Velasco.
The skeletal framework of the building is made of pure concrete including the roof deck, which was designed to provide venue for various seminars and training program of the city.
The Butuan city Library now stands as a symbol of the government's true commitment to empower city residents to enhance their knowledge and increase the city's literacy.
The second floor is equipped with modern computers with internet connections that is available for free.
The Butuan Charity Foundation consisting Balikbayans headed by Dr. Casimiro Sanchez Garcia donated books for the new city library.
